Backpacker just put the Tiltrock Loop on the map, and we're pretty excited to see this new 300-mile adventure getting the attention it deserves.
Stretching through south-central Pennsylvania and northern Maryland, the Tiltrock Loop connects five existing trail systems into one continuous loop, with Everett, PA, at the heart of the route.
And here's the really fun part: no one has completed the entire loop yet.
That means someone gets to be the first.

Healthy Lands Week begins this Saturday, September 26, and this year, the spotlight is on Bedford County. For the first time, Pennsylvania Healthy Lands Week is focusing on one specific county, bringing a week of opportunities to learn, explore and lend a hand in the places that make Bedford County special.
From trail work and habitat restoration to tree planting, historic preservation and more, there are plenty of ways to get involved. And you don't have to be an expert or spend the whole week volunteering. Find an opportunity that speaks to you and turn your passion into action!

You don’t have to be an experienced hiker to find your people on the trail. 🥾🌲
The September 27 Bedford County Hiking Club hike is coming up, and there’s still time to join us for 4 miles on the Mid State Trail Association, Inc.!
This one is a moderate-to-difficult hike with about 1,000 feet of combined ascent and descent, so you’ll get a solid workout along with some beautiful forested scenery. And because it falls during Pennsylvania Healthy Lands Week, we’ll also have loppers available for anyone who wants to help us clear low-hanging branches and give a little love back to the trail.

FYI: This isn't your last chance to hike with us. We have October and December hikes on the calendar, too, so there's plenty more trail to discover in 2026.
